Children’s activities, Easter egg hunt, and Easter Bunny at Eggstravaganza

DOWNTOWN RAPID CITY, SD – Grab your basket and hop down to Main Street Square for Eggstravaganza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 15, featuring an Easter egg hunt in Memorial Park, family-friendly activities, and an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny. Eggstravaganza is free to attend and is sponsored by Black Hills Community Bank, Progress Sponsor Holiday Inn – Rushmore Plaza.
The Easter egg hunt, featuring 10,000 eggs, will begin promptly at 11 a.m. and is held at Legacy Commons Playground in Memorial Park. There will be a separate area for children ages 0 to 3 to hunt for Easter eggs.
Children will have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny and get photos with him and the Black Hills Community Bank fire truck beginning at 11:15 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras for the photo opportunity, as a professional photographer will not be provided.
There is something fun for everyone in the Regional Health and Scull Construction Kidz Zone, including the Main Street Square Fun Express train and inflatable bounce houses. JDProductions will provide family-friendly entertainment on the Main Street Square stage throughout the event. Get your face painted by the Miss Rapid City Scholarship Foundation, play with animals at Old MacDonald’s Farm petting zoo, do an art project with the Rapid City High School Art Department, or grab a bite to eat from a delicious food vendor.
“Everybody’s favorite bunny will be at Main Street Square for an afternoon of spring fun,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “The activities begin at 11 a.m. with an egg hunt at Legacy Commons Playground. Don’t be late!”
Children are invited to showcase their creativity in a coloring contest, for a chance to win an egg-celent prize basket from Who's Toy House, Who's Game House, Who's Hobby House, and sweets from Zoom Soda & Candy. The winners of the coloring contest will be announced at 1 p.m. on the Main Street Square stage and presented their prize basket by the Easter Bunny. Coloring pages may be picked up and submitted at Who’s Toy House or the Main Street Square office. They are also available on www.MainStreetSquareRC.com. Entries are due Wednesday, Apr. 12.
Enjoy free parking in all Downtown public lots, metered spaces on the streets, and in the parking ramp near Main Street Square all day on Saturday, Apr. 15.
